Different Types of Cosmetic Dental Procedures
Veneers
Veneers are a thin shell made out of porcelain or composite material. They are custom made and cemented to the front side of the tooth. A veneer can be used to treat dental conditions such as a slightly crooked tooth, discolored teeth, chipped teeth or even to cover spaces in between the teeth. Dr Ballesteros uses only minimally invasive veneers to restore the beauty of your smile.
A dental implant is a metal device designed to replace missing teeth. The device is usually made out of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. Unlike a dental bridge, an implant is permanent. A dental implant is designed to act as the tooth root and can anchor an artificial tooth or teeth such as a crown, bridge, or denture.
Crowns, also referred to as caps, are custom made to fit over your whole tooth after the cosmetic dentist has prepared it. They are usually made out of acrylic or porcelain that has been fused to metal to withstand biting pressure. Crowns can be used in cosmetic dentistry to treat teeth that are poorly shaped, badly decayed, broken, chipped, have had large fillings, or to cover spaces in between teeth. Dr Ballesteros offers the best materials for more aesthetic results.
Teeth whitening is one of our top procedures here in Mexicali, also called “teeth bleaching,” this procedure can brighten and whiten your teeth from discoloration and/or staining. This procedure can be done in the our office or at home. Not everyone’s teeth can be bleached, ask Dr Ballesteros for different whitening packs.
A smile makeover is a process of improving ones smile through one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, white fillings, Lumineers, crowns, dental caps, or bridges.
A smile makeover will restore chipped, cracked, or discolored teeth, restore your bite, and return the muscles that control your jaw movement to their natural position.
Composite fillings are a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium that produces a tooth-colored filling. They are sometimes referred to as composites or filled resins. Composite fillings provide good durability and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that need to withstand moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is removed when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may result in a smaller filling than that of an amalgam. Composites can also be "bonded" or adhesively held in a cavity, often allowing the dentist to make a more conservative repair to the tooth.
Cracks, chips, staining, and discoloration of the teeth are common problems for most people and can be caused by many different things. For patients who would like to treat these issues but don't want or need more invasive techniques, dental bonding can be the perfect choice. Dr. Maryol Ballesteros, offers convenient dental bonding options, which is simple resin applied to teeth that matches the patient's natural tooth color and hides subtle imperfections, at Cosmetic & Implant Dentistry Dentalite in Mexicali. Dental bondings can also make teeth longer, more even, and fill small gaps. Dental contouring, also known as tooth reshaping, carefully removes small amounts of enamel to improve the shape, length, and surface of the tooth.
